I’m surprised by the answers. I love cabbage as much as the next person but everything should be taken in moderation. Cabbage contains goitrogens which can cause goiters if consumed too much. People who have thyroid issues should make sure to cook cabbage before eating them. Also as another answer mentioned cabbage consumption can cause a bit of diarrhea.

Cabbage does not have many side effects if eaten in a moderate amount but eating too much of it can cause diarrhea. It can also interfere with the functioning of the thyroid gland and lead to Iodine deficiency. It can also lower the blood sugar level and increase the occurrence of flatulence or gas.
