Essential oils stay for about 5 years but some essential oils, which contain monoterpenes or oxides in huge quantities, stay only for a year or two. E oils that contain phenols have a shelflife of three years. Then come essential oils which contain ketones, monoterpenols, and/or esters. These can easily have a shelf life of 4-5 years.

The package of the oil should help you understand the expiry date of the essential oil. Make sure to not use the oil in any way or on the skin once it has expired. I got an acne breakout after using old tea tree oil. So please be careful.
